Work Me Lord by Janis Joplin

I never really understood the hype about Janis Joplin until I heard "Work Me, Lord" a few years ago. You can feel her pain and frustration- its so hard to listen to. Hey lyrics are always simple and about her struggle finding someone to truly love her...and she never found him before her tragic heroin overdose. It makes the song even more haunting and heartbreaking. PLEASE listen to it. Listen to her.

Well I don't think I'm any very special
Kind of person down here, I know better,
But I don't think you're gonna find anybody,
Not anybody who could say that they tried like I tried,
The worst you can say all about me
Is that I'm never satisfied

Honey, don't you go off and leave me, Lord.
Can't I show you how hard it is
Trying to live when you're all alone.
Everyday I keep pushing,
Keep trying to move forward
But something is driving me, oh, back,
And something's trying to hold on to me,
To my way of life, why.

Feelin Crazy

I can't focus, music is rolling through my brain and preventing me from writing. I'd complain but I like it too much.

Music of the Moment 1

Music I can't stop listening to right now. Some are songs, some are albums, and some are just random singles I found.

1. Amy Winehouse: Valerie, Cherry, Fuck Me Pumps, (There is) No Greater Love, I Heard Love Is Blind

2. "Heartbeat" by Annie. This is always my music of the moment though. So good.

3. Camera Obscura: French Navy, Tears for Affairs, Let's Get Out Of This Country, If Looks Could Kill

4. "Good Girls Go Bad" Cobra Starship feat. Leighton Meester

5. "All Night" by Circ

6. Colbie Caillat's new album "Breakthrough." The whole thing's good.

7. Crosby Stills Nash & Young: Ohio, Carry On, Long Time Gone, Suite- Judy Blue Eyes, Helplessly Hoping, Wooden Ships, Woodstock.

8. "I Remember" by Deadmau5

9. "Stepping Stone" by Duffy

10. A Fine Frenzy's new singles: Electric Twist (my FAVORITE), Happier, Coming Around, Blow Away

11. Gipsy Kings: The Greatest Hits. They are so fucking good this is the best album to start your day with (shout out to Minna Levy)

12. Ingrid Michaelson's entire new album "Everybody." It's UNREAL, so beautiful. I can already tell I'm going to blast this on repeat during the winter time. Some music is just made for winter and this is no exception. Favorites: Soldier, The Chain, Incredible Love, Are We There Yet, Maybe, Locked Up

13. Janis Joplin. I've adored Janis since I was a little girl but I just started appreciating just how unbelievable she really is. I know it sounds like her throat is made of glass chards but you have to dig deeper and really hear her pain. You can feel it, it's so prevalent it hurts to listen to. She once said "On stage, I make love to 25,000 different people, then I go home alone." Such a tragic story, wow. Favorites: Work Me, Lord (all time fav), Try Just a Little bit Harder, Summertime, Piece of My Heart, Cry Baby, Ball and Chain, Me and Bobby McGee, To Love Somebody

14. Joe Cocker's "With a little help from my friends" probably the only song where a cover was more successful than the original...and the original was goooood. But there is no comparison. Joe Cocker...you fucking rock. If you can go look up his 1969 Woodstock performance= GOLD

15. "Take a Minute" by K'naan (thanks to Molly for giving me this)

16. "Doesn't Matter" by Kasper Bjorke feat. The Pierces. So sexy.

17. "Over It" by Katharine McPhee.

18. "Tik Tok" by Ke$sha. Pretty sure this is gonna be a hit.

19. Kings of Leon. Their album "Only by the Night" is probably the most played album on my entire Itunes but their earlier stuff is really good too. Favorites: Knocked Up, I Want You, Crawl, Sex on Fire, Fans, Use Somebody, Closer, Arizona, 17, Revelry, Notion.

20. "In for the Kill" by La Roux. This rocks.

21. Lady Gaga's album "The Fame." All you lady gaga haters can suck my dick because she is unbelievably talented. Yes, she's out of the box and a bit crazy but that only adds to her appeal and originality.

22. "Bones" by Little Big Town. I found this on the True Blood soundtrack and its sooooo good. Awesome harmonies.

23. "Beggin" by Madcon. CLASSIC

24. "Worrisome Heart" by Melody Gardot. Gorgeous, sexy, and calm. It's like the song is trying to seduce me. It worked.

25. MGMT's "Electric Feel" and "Kids"

26. "South Side" by Gwen Gtefani and Moby

27. Norwegian Recycling...enough said

28. "Relator" by Pete Yorn and Scarlett Johansson. I actually really like this.

29. Phoenix's entire album "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix" every single song is so fucking good.

30. "Freedom" by Richie Havens

31. "Black and Gold" by Sam Sparrow and Katy Perry's cover of it as well. Both are great.

32. Unreleased music by Sara Bareilles. I don't remember how I found these but "Everyday Stranger" is my favorite. Other great ones: Come Round Soon acoustic, Good Girls, Pretend, Tread Water, and The Artist.

33. "Celia" by Simon & Garfunkle

34. "I Turn My Camera On" by Spoon.

35. "Heard You Want to Beat Me Up" by The Strange Boys

36. "New Day" by Tamar Kaprelian. If this wasn't played on The Hills...it should be.

37. "bittersweet Symphony" by The Verve. This is probably on every on-the-go playlist I've ever made.

38. The Weepies. Favorites: All That I Want, Can't Go Back Now, World Spins Madly On

39. The Who. I've always loved them but I just expanded my collection. Favorites: I'm Free, My Generation, See Me Feel me, Pinball Wizard, Who Are You, I Can See For Miles, Magic Bus, Won't Get Fooled Again, The Acid Queen

40. "Forever Young" by Youth Group

41. Jefferson Airplane. One of my mom's favorite bands and certainly one of mine too.

Enjoy.

CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW GORGEOUS SHE IS!?
Unreal. I officially want to be her. She's always tan and always has a perfect shade of natural-looking blonde hair. She's the kind of girl who can walk out of the house with no makeup on and still turn heads.
